At EclipseCon, the spec project maintainers met to discuss planning for a next release and now plan to release a Compendium 8.1 before the end of year.

 

The planned content is:

Promise 1.3

JDBC 1.1

Whiteboard spec for Jakarta Restful Services 2.0 (supersedes the JaxRS Whiteboard spec)

Whiteboard spec for Jakarta Servlet 2.0 (supersedes the Http Whiteboard and Http Service specs)

PushStream 1.2

 

The release will also include other minor fixes here and there to the specs, Javadoc, and TCKs.

 

The release schedule plan is:

 

Nov 4: Make a milestone/rc release of the Jakarta related API artifacts to Maven Central for the compatible implementations to use

Nov 18: All changes are completed to spec, API, compatible implementation (they are now in maven central), and TCKs

Dec 9: Final build for spec, API, TCKs to go to spec committee for approval

Dec 16: Release (spec committee approved) Compendium 8.1. Artifacts to maven central, spec to docs.osgi.org.
