I was wishing the converse yesterday! (link to navigator and editor from git pages).
I opened bug https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=359277.
I'll append your remarks there, this seems to be a general problem of navigating among the different "views" of a resource.
