I was looking to see who did have permissions, and I noticed the webmasters have changed our downloads area group to now be tools.orbit (in other words, all Orbit committers, same group as for cvs). I asked them if intentional, and they said "yes" ...

<quote>
It was an intentional change as part of the 'standardized' group
effort.  If you would prefer to have a separate group for download
control(which is now achieved mostly by only giving build engineers and
PLs actual shells) I can certainly set that up.

</quote>

I'm inclined to leave this "open" to all committers, but thought I'd ask here if the rest of you think that is too "dangerous" or subject to damage or errors?

I would still be happy to promote builds when needed (and would normally prefer to, rather than having inexperienced people try) .... but, leaving "open to all" does sort of simplify things,

If any of you think we should return to having a reduced "orbitadmin" group, I'll ask for that. Otherwise, I'll update the wiki pages with this new information.

Thanks,

As stated on the wiki page you have to be a member of the orbitadmin group, unfortunately I'm not.
David, please, could your mojo to promote the build.

Thx

There are instructions on the wiki here:

Although I think some ppl have had problems in the past with incorrect unix permissions. If you try it and it doesn't work then maybe David would do it for you if you ask nicely. :-)

Hi,

I need to use the content of the most recent orbit I-build.
Is there a way to trigger a copy the most recent build to
download.eclipse.org?
Alternatively we could just promote the current I build to a stable build since there has not been much change lately aside from DJ and I.
