Hi Jan,

Thank you for reaching out about the OpenPASS Steering Committee mailing list. Your email was timely, as we have some updated information to share.

We recently automated our Steering Committee mailing lists. As part of that standardization, the OpenPASS SC mailing list was made non-subscribable, aligning it with our standard practice of limiting these lists to current Steering Committee representatives (primary and alternates).

The list currently includes Daniel Schmidt (Bosch), Stefan Schoenawa (Volkswagen), Thomas Platzer (BMW), and yourself (Mercedes-Benz), as well as several Eclipse Foundation staff members, including Michael and me.

The mailing list archive remains publicly available because the list had previously been subscribable. You may also see a reference to 31 subscribers; however, I verified the membership before the automation work, and that number does not reflect the current subscribers. It appears to be historical information that was not updated as the list changed over the years.

I think this gives us an opportunity to improve how we use both OpenPASS lists:

• We should update the Steering Committee list to include an alternate for each primary representative, which is our standard approach for Steering Committees.
• We should consider how to make the general OpenPASS mailing list (https://accounts.eclipse.org/mailing-list/openpass-wg) more useful as a broader community communication channel, as it has more than 70 subscribers but has not had any activity since 2025.

One thing we overlooked during the automation work was notifying the Steering Committee in advance of the change to the SC mailing list. I apologize for that. We should have provided that context when the change was made.

Dann können wir den Verteiler bereinigen.

 

FYI: Arun wird in Zukunft nicht mehr in openPASS aktiv sein, sein Nachfolger als Projekt Lead und AC Leiter ist Dominik Jantschar.
