please find below a mail from Felix who cannot write to the SC list, I agree to his proposal (focus on stochastic traffic simulation, not SCM).
Sorry for the inconvenience, I hope we find a new meeting slot soon.
Dear Jan,
Many thanks for the proposal. We discussed it internally. Regarding SCM we would prefer a different approach, since it is not official published yet and one slide deep-dive for SCM does not work. We expect that this would
require at least 1 h.
Thus, our approach would be to talk about the stochastic traffic simulation (Thomas and I will check whether we make some updates to the slides) and end in a way that we state that this approach requires a driver behaviour
model, which covers the entire range from normal driving to handling of critical situations. And then we will do only a verbal teaser (no slides) about SCM (when it is expected to be published, why it takes a bit longer than anticipated) and that we would
offer to do a deep dive once it is available. Then Alex can do the deep dive.
By the way: if needed, I can report also about the ISO/AWI TS 21934-2 “Prospective safety performance assessment of pre-crash technology by virtual simulation
Part 2: Guidelines for application”. Besides it might be useful for NHTSA to see where openPASS is already used in recent activities (V4Safety, Hi-Drive, maybe you have further activities) (Maybe it is already in and
I just not aware of it; à due to too many activities I haven’t checked the slides yet)
Is it okay for you?
Best regards,
Felix

Dear all,
my colleagues in the US wanted to use some in-presence meetings in Washington to sort out the date, but I have not yet received a confirmation.
After talking to Arun at our MB FOSS/CON, I suggest the following agenda. This should put the focus on how openPASS as a simulation tool & the use cases it can be used for. Still, I tried to work in the new content wrt modular ecosystem
into the respective sections.
- Introduction to openPASS (Tuan)
- 2-3 Standard slides
- NEW in intro (1 slide): modular ecosystem where openPASS partners re-use components
- Use case 1 (BMW)
è stochastic traffic simulation with SCM
- NEW: 1 slide deep dive into SCM as a new project
- Use case 2 (MB)
è conversion of crash trahjectories into OpenSCENARIO - “PCM use case”
- NEW: what is OpenSCENARIO (1 slide)
è loop back to modular ecosystem
- Q&A
è what are NHTSA’s interests in the field of virtual simulation? Match with openPASS?
@Tuan, Thomas, Felix: does this work for you?
As soon as I got a confirmation from MBRDNA, I will let you know.
Take care,
Jan
