Re: [oaw-wg] Generic Editor

Hi Krzysztof,

I guess we all are somehow responsible to identify and use possible
synergies. The foundation ensures little overlap by carefully reviewing any project proposals (and especially their scopes). We put the generic editor as an example, because it was "politically possible". It for sure doesn't belong there. We were already discussing this with Ed a couple of months ago and I thought that it would ultimately be a good idea to have a new EMFT project for that. So expect such a project proposal to come in future (next couple of weeks/months).

I actually didn't know that Epsilon has a similar editor and I also don't know the MoDisco editor. We should have a look and contact them when preparing the proposal.

Cheers,
Sven

the generic editor is contained in M2T/Xpand as an example.
You need to install that explicitly via update site.

Curiosity: What do you plan to do with generic editor in future? Xpand
does not look like good place for it.

Is there anyone in Eclipse Foundation who is responsible for synergy
between projects? There is a project (1) in Epsilon tool set that
look quite similar to generic editor and one different ecore editor
but quite cool in MoDisco project (2).
