Re: [mvc-dev] Discuss Jakarta MVC 3.0 on Tomorrow's call
|
Interesting, thanks for that information. From my side it‘d be OK to release a 2.2 to mark JSF as deprecated, but for sure it‘d be easier to get an exception.
One thing that came up on the specification committee today when we discussed the revised deprecation process...
---
The deprecation process that is being worked on broadly has two steps:
1. A feature is marked as deprecated in release N (N can be a MINOR release)
2. A feature is then removed in release N+1 (or beyond where N+1 is a MAJOR release)
---
This would mean that we should release a 2.2 where we deprecate the requirement for the Facelet ViewEngine to be able to remove it fully in 3.0.
However, there will be possible to get an exception to the above general rule. And I think we have a good case since MVC is currently not included in the platform, is a fairly new spec, and has a manageable number of implementations.
So, I think we will be good to proceed with the plan for 3.0.

I'm not sure as well if I can join due to the public holiday. But I'll try...
Correct :)
Tobias
Sure, that was this issue?
Ivar
Hi Ivar,
I‘m not sure if I can join since we‘ve a public holiday in Germany tomorrow. Maybe you can add the new constant in ViewEngine as enhancement too. The rest looks good to me!
Thanks and best regards,
Tobias
Hi,
Tomorrow, I would like to discuss the plan for Jakarta MVC 3.0 so we can be ready for review by the specification committee before the due date of May 30.
If you're not able to join the call, please respond to this email if you have input or comments.
