|Re: [kanto-dev] Yocto integration of Kanto's components|
Yes - all of that will be "fixed" and done the pure OSS way for Kanto. Also the latest LTS is to be supported there.
The reason for providing the meta layers for the Bosch IoT Edge Agent the way you have experienced is that it's "closed source" so there weren't many "nice" ways to do the Yocto integration properly unfortunately. These layers have stuck a little bit regarding LTS supported version due to the fact that we are migrating the Agent's development in Kanto and all the upgrades will be introduced there.
Now, having Kanto into the open - we can finally get on the proper Yocto track : )
As mentioned before - the Kanto meta layer will be available publicly in a GitHub repo and all the recipes in it will refer the sources available in the Kanto repos. Compatibility with the latest LTS is also on the checklist for Kanto.
I hope this info is helpful - please, let me know if further details are needed - would be happy to support!
Have a great weekend!

Subject: Re: [kanto-dev] Yocto integration of Kanto's components
Thanks for coming back to me.
I’ve ended up there at some point. The main issue is that it doesn’t support the current LTS version – kirkstone. It seems like dunfell is the latest supported. Also, the fact that the build metadata/layer is not provided as a repository – but behind a download client specific to Bosch – makes it hard for us to integrate. Are these all to change when you release it for Kanto?
