Re: [jwt-dev] Eclipse Summit Europe CFPDeadline Sep. 1
 |
Hi Florian
You're right, we better hurry !
I'll be at the summit and I'm willing to help preparing and showing the
presentation. We'll see whether Mickael will be able to be there as well.
I like the proposed storyline, which goes through every steps of using
JWT. "News and Noteworthy talks" have to talk about new features, and I
think we got two other big ones (which we previewed last year) : SOA
integration (here "SOA" will be the buzzword !!), and customizing JWT's
model and editors. Actually, I wonder whether we should make the SOA
story even bigger... Because everything we've done can be pictured in
this light, it will tie us closer to STP, and it will attract the
biggest audience... Well let's start first ;)
The abstract itself is great, please just replace "SOA" by "and within
Service Oriented Architectures" at the end.
I've slightly enriched the storyline, as a basis for the presentation :
   * Model-driven development starting with the Eclipse BPMN-editor,
   * Transforming a BPMN-model into JWT, (Comment: Since we only have
the transformation the other way round for the moment, we won't be
     able to present these parts)
   * Enriching the JWT-model with technical details,
   * Simulating the JWT-model,
   * Generating XPDL code and deploying it on an engine such as Bonita.
   * Additionally, we describe the various components that have been
developed or are currently developed in the context of JWT:
   * e.g. Adapting JWT for custom needs by extending its metamodel and
editor, orchestration with an SOA platform such as SCOrWare,
integration with the SOA Tools Project through the SCA Editor and
additional transformations such as JWT 2 STP-IM, Monitoring a
     workflow execution...
We can write the outline of such a powerpoint presentation on the basis
of this storyline.
I almost (!) have a wink demo for SOA integration, I can do one for
aspects (which would be useful for the tutorial as well).
We should also fix a date and a name (0.5) for the new release, and what
goes in (aspects have to be merged in the trunk), and a date for the
article.
Regards,
Marc

Hi folks,
as Lynn has written the deadline for a presentation at Eclipse Summit
Europe is already next Monday. Since we had planned to attend this
conference and present something (see my email from 10th of June),
please find below a first version of a summary for this presentation.
The proposed storyline for a "New & Noteworthy Talk" was
    * Model-driven development starting with the Eclipse BPMN-editor,
    * Transforming a BPMN-model into JWT, (Comment: Since we only have
the transformation the other way round for the moment, we won't
be able to present these parts)
    * Enriching the JWT-model with technical details,
    * Simulating the JWT-model,
    * Generating XPDL code.
    * Additionally, we describe the various components that have been
developed or are currently developed in the context of JWT:
    * e.g. Metamodel extension, JWT Monitoring, additional
transformations such as JWT 2 STP-IM, etc.
So we might send them a summary such as (see also
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Eclipse_Summit_2008#Submitted_abstract)
Title: Managing Processes and Workflows with JWT
Content: Business Process Management has gained a lot of attention
during the last years. There is now a huge amount of commercial and
open-source-software tools available that allow to model, deploy,
execute and monitor a workflow. However, most of the current
open-source-workflow tools are still incompatible. In the
Eclipse-project Java Workflow Tooling (JWT) we build a set of tools
that enable users to model a workflow independently of the workflow
engine first and add engine-specific details based on plugin
extensions lateron. The workflow builds the basis for generating XPDL
or BPEL-code in the next step which can then be deployed and executed
on a workflow engine such as Bonita. We will also show the possibility
to monitor the workflow on the workflow engine as well as our
integration with the Eclipse STP project (e.g. by generating code for
the STP-Intermediate Model) and SOA more generally.
That's my first draft, any comments are welcome. Who would like to
assist me in presenting JWT at ESE2008 as well as in preparing the
presentation and demo?
Best regards,
Florian

Eclipse membership,
Please remember that the deadline for the Eclipse Summit Europe
<http://www.eclipsesummit.org/> call for papers is this Monday,
*September 1*, 2008.
Everyone in the Eclipse community is encouraged to submit a session
proposal. There are 4 tracks at the conference:
    * *Consumer Stories* - explore your company’s or your experience
      using Eclipse-based technologies
    * *Demos* - give a technical presentation showing code examples
      from your project
    * *Ganymede Talks* - share new features and improvements coming
      out of Eclipse’s Ganymede release
    * *New & Noteworthy Talks* - explain what innovations have already
come out of your work and what you plan to achieve next
   *
You may submit as many proposals as you want online at
eclipsecon.org/submissions <https://www.eclipsecon.org/submissions/>,
using your Bugzilla account <https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/>.
Eclipse Summit Europe is the Eclipse Foundation’s annual community
event for the European Eclipse ecosystem and is scheduled for November
19-20 in Ludwigsburg, Germany. ESE will consist of two days of
technical and business track sessions, selected keynotes, demos and
social gatherings, preceded by one day of symposia on November 18. The
summit is a stimulating and dynamic event for Eclipse users,
contributors, adopters, add-in providers and service providers to
learn, share expertise and discover new opportunities and solutions.
