Unfortunately the crew who managed this milestone is not working at Oracle anymore, so their (more or less personal) milestone just lingers now. I am not aware of any active committer spending time in 2.x still. Most developers concentrate on 4.x and 5.x nowadays. But maybe the team around Arjan is planning that?
Is there a chance you simply upgrade to 3.x at least?
