Re: [jca-dev] Name Vote outcome

The acronym is on a list circulated by the Jakarta EE Steering committee of marks being used by the JCP that therefore needs renaming.


I suggested Jim speaks to the PMC to get confirmation we can retain the acronym as that seems to be the desire of the majority of committers that voted.


IANAL so I am asking Jim to punt the issue up the project hierarchy.

As I commented on the git issue for this vote, since the acronym JCA isn't a trademark, what would Jim ask the PMC to discuss?  An entity can't prohibit the use of an untrademarked acronym and that entity simply stating it can't be used is irrelevant.  I think we should proceed with the name change as voted.

Hi,

 

The name vote has ran for the requisite time and by reckoning the votes are;

 

+4 Jakarta Connector Architecture

+3 Jakarta Connectors

 

The problem I see with this is my understanding is that JCA as an acronym will be be on the list of acronyms we are not allowed to use going forward.

 

@James as you are also project lead and voted for Jakarta Connector Architecture can you take this up with the PMC and see if the majority name can be taken forward.
