There's pros and cons to either approach. 

Just having an utterly simple "javax to jakarta" rename has the advantage that the rename is completely trivial, both for users to cary out, and for vendors to support. But there's an advantage in taking this rare opportunity to go directly to jakarta.authentication indeed.

There are supporters and opponents for both cases it seems.
