If you've been following the Platform Development calls (or at least the minutes and mailing lists), you've heard about this upcoming goal of having the individual component Specification Release
Plans ready by April 15. And, as the Jakarta EE Marketing Committee plans for the upcoming Jakarta EE 9.1 release announcement, the Steering Committee is asking what can we state about the follow-on Jakarta EE 10 release? For example, when
we announce Jakarta EE 9.1, we'd like to also announce what's coming next.
We've been doing some higher level discussions about our next Jakarta EE release both on the calls and on the mailing lists. We've heard some verbal interest from various components for Spec updates
(ie. Jakarta Rest, CDI, Servlet, etc). But, now we need to turn that verbal interest into something a bit more concrete.
So, what's being asked of the component Specification teams? Basically, we need a
Release
Plan. The content for a Release Plan is described nicely by this
PR
Template. This plan eventually needs to be reviewed and voted on by the Specification Committee. We are looking for the Plans to be
ready for a ballot by April 15, not be completed by April 15.
