Hello All,

as we are winding down for the holidays, I'd like to remind you and encourage all the committer members get involved and help us fill out the Committer Member Representative on the  Jakarta EE Marketing and Brand Committee for the rest of the year, till the new elections.

    The typical profile of an outstanding Committee Member
    Representative

• Respected community member
  
• Active blogger / podcaster / speaker
  
• Established social media presence 

    Meeting duration and frequency:

• 1 hour meeting
• Meet on a bi-weekly basis or weekly in the lead-up to a major release

Considering we have just released Jakarta EE 9, I expect well be transitioning from weekly to bi-weekly meetings.

The Jakarta EE Working Group Charter identifies the various Committees that drive the facets of the working group for which elected positions are to be filled.  

You may recall from the elections held in May, 2020, the Committer Member representative (one seat) was not filled for the Marketing Committee due to absence of candidates.  

At this time, the Jakarta EE Marketing Committee has passed a resolution to initiate an election to fill that vacant seat until the next election period.  

Through this email, we are announcing the Eclipse Foundation will hold an election on behalf of the working group using the proposed timetable listed below as per the Marketing Committee’s request. This mimics the process used by other working groups as well as the Eclipse Foundation itself for filling elected positions on our Board.  

All committer members are encouraged to consider nominating a Committer Member for the position, and self-nominations are more than welcome.  The nomination period is now open and runs until January 8th to accommodate the Eclipse Foundation’s December closure.  

A reminder Committer Members are those Committers on EE4J projects that are also members; this would be by virtue of:

a) the company for which they work is a member, or 

b) they completed the Membership Agreement as an individual.  (Membership Agreement is encompassed in the Jakarta EE Individual Working Group Participation Agreement as well).

Nominations should be sent to this mailing list with the subject line of “Jakarta EE Working Group Marketing Committee - Committer Member Election”.

Once nominations are closed, we will inform the working group of the confirmed candidates providing a short bio for each along with their position statement.  At that point, we will distribute ballots via email to those eligible to vote.  The election process will follow the Eclipse “Single Transferable Vote” method, as defined in the Eclipse Bylaws.  

The winning candidate will be announced on this mailing list shortly after close of  election.

January 13:  

Announce Candidates Standing

January 14 - 26:  

Ballot Distribution

January 29:  

Announce Committer Member Representative
