Greetings Jakarta EE Specification Committee.

I need your vote to approve the Jakarta EE 9 Release Plan.

The JESP/EFSP requires a successful ballot of the Specification Committee in order to start the version 9 development cycle.

The relevant materials are available here:

Note that this plan serves as the general foundation for the work that needs to be done for the Jakarta EE Platform Project and the specification projects that are included in that profile (often referred to as "component specification projects"). Component specification projects that intend to do work over and above what is described in this plan document, will detail that work in their own plans and submit them for separate ballot approval.

Specification project teams that intend to engage in work beyond what is described in the Jakarta EE 9 Release Plan should send a note to emo@xxxxxxxxxxx with a pointer to your plan document to request that we initiate a Plan Review and corresponding ballot of the Specification Committee.

The process requires that this be a seven day ballot. I have scheduled the corresponding Plan Review (the EFSP provides some background on Plan Reviews) to conclude on January 15/2019 (to align with our usual review schedule); I will tally the results on that date. I require a Super-majority positive vote of the Specification Committee members. Community input is welcome, but only votes cast by Specification Committee Representatives will be counted.

The Specification Committee is composed of representatives of the Jakarta EE Working Group Member Companies (Fujitsu, IBM, Oracle, Payara, Red Hat, Tomitribe), along with individuals who represent the EE4J PMC, Participant Members, and Committer Members.

Specification Committee representatives, your vote is hereby requested. Please respond with +1 (positive), 0 (abstain), or -1 (reject).  Any feedback that you can provide to support your vote will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Wayne
