Re: [jakarta.ee-spec.committee] Independent Versioning Proposal

Thanks, Scott.  This is really great.

I did some digging on the MicroProfile release history to show everyone.  I haven't quote polished that data yet.  For everyone, MicroProfile has always released spec, tck and api jars together with the same version for the *subspects*.  There have been a handful of micro releases across the subspects (x.x.1,... x.x.2).  Usually within the first 45 days ish.  None so far have done a second micro release as the minor versions change perhaps twice a year and flush out the need for many micro versions.  I still plan to collect all the data for us to see so we have all data on hand to evaluate.

The above is not true for the MicroProfile umbrella specification which has never issued a micro release.

Of course the experience with the overall Java EE TCK and set of specifications is greatly different.

Like you I might lean towards something were Major, Minor and Micro are encouraged to be the same, but not required.
