Re: [jakarta.ee-community] Just subscribed and eager to start contributing

Sorry for the tardy response to this. It's a busy work week as usual.

If it makes sense to you, I would urge helping with the Jakarta Transactions specification conversion. In general, the best place to help really is still with Jakarta EE 9 delivery. This guide may be helpful in this regard: https://jakartaee-ambassadors.io/getting-involved/guide-for-helping-deliver-jakarta-ee-9/.

Additionally it is also extremely helpful to begin testing GlassFish 6 and Jakarta EE 9 (and perhaps contribute fixes). This blog should help you get started with that: https://medium.com/@hantsy/upgrading-to-jakarta-ee-9-ce54019170fc. In a few weeks the Jakarta EE Ambassadors will further formalize this under a revived FishCat program: https://dzone.com/articles/fishcat-glassfish-4-community-1 (no need for anyone to wait for this).

With regards to Java SE CompletableFuture alignment with Jakarta Concurrency, currently the specification is heavily reliant on Java SE Future. The idea is to enable managed threads to work properly with CompletableFuture instead. It is a well understood problem and perhaps even the changes are pretty well understood (pretty good inspiration here: https://download.eclipse.org/microprofile/microprofile-context-propagation-1.0.2/microprofile-context-propagation.html). The right place to discuss the details are in the Jakarta Concurrency alias. I am subscribed there and will chime in if no one else does. Do note, this enhancement does touch upon the somewhat contentious issue of MicroProfile and Jakarta EE alignment. For this reason, I suggest it is best to hold off on this topic a bit more if that is OK and pick something else.

Hope this helps. Please do ask questions. This community can use all the help it can get.

Hi Otavio, thanks for your response.

After checking the Guide, definitely I'm not completely sure of the right place to start helping. Checking in the project list, the first topic of the Concurrency project makes me feel a little curious:

- Java SE completable futures alignment
But I have not idea about the details and complexity of this request,

So can you give me more details about this?

Hi everyone,

Hoping everything it's fine. To be honest it's the first time that I join a community with real contribution intentions. So best regards and I hope to contribute at least with my grain of sand.
