Happy Friday Tanja, Sharon and Jakartees,

Thank you for sharing the names of the aspiring 2020 Jakarta EE Candidates.

This is the 2nd year in a row that the Marketing Cmtee seat under the Committers class gets no Jakartees.
Based on the conversations I have been having about this project's nominations & navigating it while trying to clarify Q&A being asked, I think we need to consider bringing "softer- entry" for the marketing Cmtee seat Nominations.

Why?
  1. Today, Jakarta EE as a project doesn't recognize none-code contributions as something that will convert that she/he into a Committer for the project
  2. The marketing Cmtee operates in a vacuum making almost impossible for anyone watching to know what the committee's responsibilities actually are. This is changing as some Partners are choosing to collaborate via open forums, but it is not the dynamics or chosen standard.
Either, the Jakarta WG project adjust its way to work together to bring much more visibility on WHY/HOW/WHAT is becoming the truth for the project via:
  • Mktg having its own REPO that welcomes anyone to submit tickets on anything Jakarta not related to code
  • acknowledging that Contributors helping on branding activities such a designs, blogs, translations, are likely to be nominated as a Committees
OR,
  • do we stay still while seats remain empty and do nothing to rectify the situation based on actual feedback,
#sharingIScaring,
