Re: [incubation] Project logo approval

FWIW, I don't think these meets the bar of being a derivative. But a do share Wayne's concern about possibly infringing TeX's mark.

In general, no approval is required for a project logo.

Board of Directors approval is required, however, for logos that incorporate the Eclipse Logo, or otherwise derive from it [1]. I'm not quite sure whether or not this logo can be considered derivative; I'm thinking that the use of similar colours is just evocative of it. I'll leave it to you to make the call.

Please make sure that the logo isn't violating anybody else's trademark usage guidelines. Does TeX have any restrictions on how their logo can be used?

Hi,

I’ve been searching and reading the Project Handbook for information on the proper procedure to have a project logo approved, but could not find anything of use. We have created a logo[1] for Eclipse TeXlipse that we would like to have approved.

Best regards,
