The shutdown of mid-level container projects like GMP was initiated
by the Modeling PMC.
I'm dependent on them (and you) to complete the necessary moves
before we can finish.

Hi Michael,
Wayne at the foundation created a
bugzilla
to get rid of all the top level umbrella projects under
modeling. So the
GMP umbrella is due to be removed completely.
The web sites are done, but I
know the
downloads organization and bugzilla categories need to be
cleaned up and
GMP removed. Not sure what else needs to be completed.
Cheers...

[gmf-dev] GMP
umbrella web site - time to shutdown?

Hello,
In the past all GMP projects had shared umbrella
web site
at http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/gmp/.
During Kepler restructuring all sub-projects had
switched
to their own top-level sites and we now have separate sites at http://eclipse.org/gmf-notation/,
http://eclipse.org/gmf-runtime/,
http://eclipse.org/gmf-tooling/.
(And for historical reasons, Graphiti had their top-level
website http://www.eclipse.org/graphiti/
from the very first days).
To my understanding, while the new per-project sites are in the
Git, the
old web site is still being served from the old CVS sources, so
there are
no ways to modify it now.
While we are at the end of Kepler SR2 quite week, preparing to
publish
the final bits for Kepler, should not we use the moment and
shutdown the
old web site completely?
I think something like just static HTML page split into 4 square
per project
sections, each linked to appropriate top-level site, would be
much better
than the actual state.
I have also created the new Bugzilla [429147] to
discuss
the topic with broader audience than gmf-dev news group.

Michael
