Re: [equinox-dev] security in Equinox

Hi Hector,
The user authentication mechanism is under development, see http://www.eclipse.org/equinox/incubator/security/
There is some code in the Equinox incubator, more will be added.

There is also an initiative for the UI side of it: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=201052

Both of those are being actively worked on.

I don't know about SSL connections. I was told that Eclipse EMF project has support for those but never tried to find it myself. In Eclipse 3.3 the preference page was added to include, among other things, SSL proxy information - so I guess somebody is using it. http://help.eclipse.org/help33/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse.platform.doc.user/reference/ref-net-preferences.htm

Several projects have references to SSL (can be found by searching for "SSL" on Eclipse.org); I don't know if they expose anything in a reusable form. If you find something out about SSL connections please share - I too would be interested in learning about it.

By the way, I am guessing that you are working on some sort of evaluation of the tools available in this area? It would be interesting to see what you'll find - both in terms of your requirements and in terms of what's available.

[equinox-dev] security in Equinox

Can you tell me if Equinox has right now a user authentication mechanism, and it’s able to handle with a secured layer (SSL integration)?
Thank you for your attention,
