[epp-dev] Fwd: [eclipse.org-committers] Reminder: Code repository moves

Hi EPP-devs,

Anyone have thoughts on timing for this? I think just after the 2023-03 release, so in late March 2023 would be ideal.

I was thinking that having EPP in the eclipse-ide org would make sense: https://github.com/eclipse-ide - Denis created it as an experiment many years ago. Specifically, the URL https://github.com/eclipse-ide/packages is what I propose for the git repo.

Please reply with comments or add them to the helpdesk issue https://gitlab.eclipse.org/eclipsefdn/helpdesk/-/issues/2439

Subject: [eclipse.org-committers] Reminder: Code repository moves
To: <eclipse.org-committers@xxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to remind you all that starting in Q1 2023 the Webmaster team will begin randomly selecting 15-20 projects per quarter(starting with the least active ones) to move to either GitLab(default) or GitHub during the next quarter. This process will be repeated until all projects have been moved.  This is part of our ongoing work to shutdown our Gerrit instance[1].

Projects are welcome to immediately plan a date before the Gerrit shutdown in May 2025 that is convenient for them, as well as which service(Gitlab/Github) they want to move to by filing a HelpDesk[2] issue and the Webmaster team will work those projects to complete the move of their code repositories..

Otherwise projects selected for compulsory moves will be notified via a public issue and posts to their mailing lists.   If projects are unresponsive to these notifications Webmaster will work with the Foundation's project team to determine if the project is still active and terminate inactive projects, or migrate them to GitLab by default.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Webmaster.

-Matt.
