Re: [emf-dev] Standalone Spring wired CDO server

Hi gents,

There are deprecated wiki articles about Spring-based standalone setup of CDO.
We are really interested in such a possibility.

Do you plan to work again on this topic?
I thought about a renaissance of this way to configure CDO clients and servers. But there's no concrete plan for this currently.

Is there any particular reason why this development was abandoned?
IIRC. a major blocker (at that time) was that the Spring Framework was not considered EPL compatible.

Although Spring is still not part of Orbit http://download.eclipse.org/tools/orbit/downloads/drops/R20110523182458 I can see a anumber of approved CQs: https://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced&short_desc_type=allwordssubstr&short_desc=spring&long_desc_type=substring&long_desc=&bug_file_loc_type=allwordssubstr&bug_file_loc=&keywords_type=allwords&keywords=&emailassigned_to1=1&emailtype1=substring&email1=&em ailassigned_to2=1&emailreporter2=1&emailcc2=1&emailtype2=substring&email2=&bugidtype=include&bug_id=&chfieldfrom=&chfieldto=Now&chfieldvalue=&cmdtype=doit&order=Reuse+same+sort+as+last+time&field0-0-0=noop&type0-0-0=noop&value0-0-0=

Another reason has been that Spring (at that time) poorly cooperated with OSGi. I've heard this has been addressed with Spring DM in the meantime.

Cheers
/Eike
