Re: [ee4j-community] Jakarta EE Logo suggestion submission

Aside from that similarity it's a nice logo and I doubt Microsoft is going to have any objections nevertheless ;-)

Not sure, which one has the purple dots, is there another list than
https://wiki.eclipse.org/Jakarta_Logo_Submission ?

The ones with sails, pinpoints or maps feel a bit too much like
LocationTech to me.
The ones by 99 design are nice, although the two Js I cannot help but spot
"Mr Clippy" from older MS office.

If Apache does not see too much of its image branding with the feather-like
J (after already contributing the name) that could be nice.

The 3-dimensional one looks too much like the Nike logo with 2 ? symbols.
Ok, we learned, some of the involvement at Jakarta EE will require some $
or ? to be spent by larger companies, but maybe not quite show that in the
logo? ;-)

The bird may seem a little too close to Thunderbird.

Either way, I guess there should be at least 2 or 3 to chose from like the
names.

Werner:

The Mr. Clippy line in your post TOTALLY made my day.

I'm still smiling and thinking "Hey, let's go all in on Mr. Clippy!"
(Please No. It's me joking!!!)

I wish I had 1/10 the graphics art proficiency of the submitters.

It's starting to feel like it will be hard to go wrong and that we are
heading towards a "picking the best from a great bunch" scenario. Or, the
best kind of "problem."

And, I agree, something reminiscent of Apache Jakarta just might be good as
a kind of continuity tip of the hat to that part of the Java technology
family tree. So much good stuff came out under that umbrella project over
at Apache.

Anyway, thanks for making my day.

Dennis
