Hi Adrian,
These are good changes for JPA server testing, and I have verified on WLS using Oracle 11.1.0.7 DB. Comments had been added in bugs.
Note: One more persistence.xml need to modify (bug: 295842): trunk\jpa\eclipselink.jpa.test\resource\eclipselink-ddl-generation-model\server_merge-inherited\persistence.xml.

I would like to treat these bugs jointly. I have tested them on NetWeaver server where the proposed patches are very valuable as they get us from 43% passing tests to 99%.
 
It would be great if someone could review the patches and test on a different server.
