Re: [eclipsecon-na-program-committee] More talks...

I sympathize but as Ian S has said, there are many small Eclipse projects and they won't all be able to get speaking slots. To me a talk about a new widget or even a catalog of widgets isn't all that compelling - it seems some good documentation or blog posts could accomplish that quite well. Just my $0.02...

And of course, anything we add at this point has to be balanced with what we will remove to make space for it...

I also think we should consider the NatTable talk or a general Nebula talk. They can easily handle thousands of rows AND columns (wohhh!) and working on DI and cross UI kit support, e.g. JavaFX and SWT.

I think Nebula is also reaching out to the Opal widgets (http://code.google.com/a/eclipselabs.org/p/opal/) to integrate them. Both talks would be really good IMHO.

Best regards, Lars

I know we are trying to cut, and the last thing we need is more talks to consider. However, another project that I noticed was missing was Nebula. :-(.

This project is interesting because (AFAIK) there is no commercial backing and it's all done by volunteers (correct me if I'm wrong). I've also been hearing some chatter about the quality of the Nebula Table Widget on twitter lately (although it might have just been Lars retweeting things).

The two Nebula related talks are

http://www.eclipsecon.org/2013/sessions/rich-widgets-rich-platform-messages-nebula
http://www.eclipsecon.org/2013/sessions/introduction-nebula-nattable

Maybe Nebula has been well represented in the past and we can skip it this year.

Just something to consider.

cheers,
Ian
