Re: [eclipse.org-planning-council] Ganymede Release - IP Review

Doug, (and everyone)
You are welcome to use the automated ip log for Ganymede in spite of its not-yet-complete state. In fact, it will never be complete in the sense that it will always need new features. But more importantly, it will never extract a perfect IP log unless the data sources are perfect and the chance of that happening is remote. Thus the project lead will always need to review the automated ip log and make any changes that he or she knows are needed to eliminate false positives and false negatives.  Today, that review-and-mark needs to be done by sending an email to Janet saying "X is wrong, replace Y with Z" - in the future, you'll be able to do that through the portal.

So go ahead and use the automated ip log:
  1. Review at your ip log.
  2. Send an email to Janet saying "X and Y need to change on the automated log". In theory, there shouldn't be many changes. I hope that theory and practices are close.
  3. Press the "send this log to Eclipse Legal"
I hope that this is less work than doing it all yourself...

Yes, and reading the bug report I got the feeling it wasn't
complete yet. So I've been waiting. If we now need to go back
to the manual mode, expect some time to get the info together.

Doug.

If you mean something like
http://www.eclipse.org/projects/ip_log.php?projectid=tools.cdt
, then my experience has been that the tool's not *quite*

complete. If

you rely on it, expect to have holes. (For example, there's

37 CQs in

IPzilla for EMFT, but only 30 appear on our
http://www.eclipse.org/projects/ip_log.php?projectid=modeling.
emft page.
See http://bugs.eclipse.org/220977 for the other known issues.)

The tool also doesn't send your Abouts in for you... but

you can use

Jeff's tool to automate the collection.

a) First, sources were collected from the mapfiles using

this script [1].

b) Next, Jeff McAffer's

org.eclipse.orbit.releng.aboutextractor tool

[2] was used to collect the about files for each

mapfile's sources

into a new directory.
c) Finally, those 7 directories were zipped and attached.

Hi Janet,

What about the automated IP log tool? Is that still an option?

Below is a list of Projects for which we are still waiting on
information for the IP Review. In order to be in a position to
approve components for the Ganymede release, we will need to have
received your information in time to review and approve it

and we are

running out of time. If we have made an error, please

let us know.

Otherwise, let's get crackin'.
