Greetings folks.
We have a new proposal this week, NatTable [1], which proposes the
creation of a new Nebula subproject.
NatTable aims to provide a powerful and flexible data
grid implementation for applications with complex data grid
requirements. The goal is to provide a rich set of useful grid
functionality, and also to provide a framework that allows these
features to be created and composed to meet users’ specific needs.
Another key goal for NatTable is to provide a performant grid
implementation even when displaying very large data sets and
rapidly changing data.
A lot of work is going on in the Nebula Project [2] to reorganize
and restructure (note that the project is not using NatTable as a
template; the widgets contained within Nebula will remain part of
the single project). A particular focus of the restructuring is the
creation of a consistent build strategy. You can follow the
conversation on the Nebula project's mailing list [3].
We have three reviews wrapping up next Wednesday.
First up is the Xtext Restructuring Review [4]. With this
restructuring, Xtend--currently in development under Xtext [5]--will
become a separate project.
The scope of Xtend is to offer a modern and concise
alternative to Java implementations. The project contains anything
from the definition and implementation of the language to all
kinds of libraries and tools supporting development with Xtend,
including powerful Eclipse-based IDE-support.
Next up is Smila [6]with their 1.0 release and graduation review
[7].
SMILA is an extensible framework for building search
solutions to access foremost unstructured information in
enterprise settings. Besides providing essential infrastructure
components and services, SMILA also delivers ready-to-use add-on
components, like connectors to most relevant data sources.
Finally, the Linux Tools [8] project is moving the Autotools code to
CDT [9] in a Restructuring Review [A].
Thanks,
Wayne
