Foundation Updates in This Issue

EclipseCon Europe: Check Out the Program

ECE logoEclipseCon Europe will be here before you know it! The program is ready, including content from the OSGi Community Event and theme days on IoT and Project Quality. The IoT Playgroundreturns, and Eclipse committers are planning an impressive and inclusive Hackathon.

Now is the perfect time to register; the price is right, and there is still lots of room in the tutorials. Remember that the week starts off with anUnconference for Eclipse Working Groups and other communities, so be sure to arrive early.

Registration fees go up after September 30, and the conference hotelwill fill up soon. We hope to see you in Ludwigsburg on November 2 for the Unconference, and November 3-5 for ECE.

Please Vote on the Membership Agreement

On August 11, we opened voting on whether the Foundation can offer a modified membership agreement to government agencies who would like to join our working groups, but are unable to sign the agreement because it stipulates New York state as the governing law. A change to the agreement requires consent from the members at large. So your vote matters a great deal, since we must have an appropriate return of votes before we can make this change.

Ballots were distributed on August 11, so if you haven't already done so, please return your vote as soon as possible. If you did not receive a ballot, please contact emo@xxxxxxxxxxx.

Executive Director Mike Milinkovich posted to the members-committers list with details about the proposed change, so please look for that email for more information. You may also email Mike or Andrew Ross(Director of Ecosystem Development) with any questions or concerns.

Be a Friend and Fund Development

Friends of Eclipse logo
Starting immediately, all Friends of Eclipse donations will be used by the Eclipse Foundation to fund enhancements to the Eclipse Java and Java EE IDEs.

The Eclipse Foundation has begun to accept targeted corporate contributions as well. As an initial success in January 2015, Ericsson provided the funds to provide SWT, Mac platform, GTK3, and PDE improvements in the Mars release. A community-based process will be created to help coordinate and prioritize the contributions.

Attend the Members Meeting on September 24

The next Eclipse Foundation Members meeting will take place on Thursday, September 24 at 11:30 EDT. The meeting will take place using Google Hangout and live streamed to YouTube. The agenda will be announced on the members-committers list when it is finalized.
