Eclipse IoT Day at EclipseCon Europe
Once again, the Eclipse IoT community will be meeting at EclipseCon Europe, highlighted by both the Eclipse IoT Working Group meeting on Monday, October 22, and the full 1 day Eclipse IoT Day on Tuesday, October 23.
Eclipse Smart Home Day is also back for the second year. This event, being held on Sunday, October 21, is an awesome opportunity for all community members to meet and exchange ideas about Eclipse SmartHome-based solutions such as openHAB and QIVICON.

This year we have a new track dedicated to Cloud Native Java! You will be able to learn about all things Cloud Native Java, including how to approach Cloud Native Application Development. There are many talks and meet-ups to share details about “the big move” Java EE to Jakarta EE, including JAX-RS which is the first specification under Jakarta EE. There is also lots of coverage of Microservices and MicroProfile, open source MicroProfile implementations and much more.

With the migration being an enormous effort, the blog highlights several important milestones that were achieved and highlights some milestones that deserve more recognition.

On Tuesday, September 18, a major milestone was achieved. The GlassFish code from Oracle made its home in the Eclipse Foundation's Git repositories starting a new era of Eclipse GlassFish. This is another step in making Jakarta EE a vehicle for innovation in cloud-native application development.

The Eclipse Foundation is happy to be a part of an exciting announcement of a new Kubernetes IoT Edge Working Group – in conjunction with CNCF and supported by leading vendors like Bosch, Eurotech, InfluxData, Red Hat, Siemens, Vapor IO, and VMware.
The initial focus of the working group will be to flesh out IoT edge computing use cases and see how Kubernetes can be used (and to what extent).
