2018 ECLIPSE FOUNDATION BOARD ELECTIONS REMINDER

We are pleased to announce that the nominees for the 2018 Eclipse Foundation Board election have been published. Thank you to all of the nominees for putting their names forward!

For this coming year, the community will be represented on the Board by two Committer and two elected Sustaining Member representatives. The terms of office are from April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019.

We highly encourage everyone to consider participating in the election process by reading the position statements and contacting the nominees with any questions.

As we had only two people put their names forward for the Sustaining Member representatives, Tracy Miranda and Torkild Ulvøy Resheim will remain in their positions by acclamation.

Voting for the two Committer representatives will open on February 12 and will end March 1

The conference is 13-14 June with an Unconference, at a new location, on 12 June, so be sure to save those dates.

We'll see you in June in Toulouse!

FOURTH ANNUAL IoT DEVELOPER SURVEY

We’re pleased to launch the fourth annual IoT Developer Survey. In past years, the survey has provided interesting insights into how developers are building IoT solutions. The survey will run until February 26, 2018.

The Eclipse IoT Working Group is partnering with the IEEE IoT Initiative, the Open Mobile Alliance, and the AGILE-IoT H2020 Research Project for this year’s survey.

Take the time to complete this 5-8 minute survey. It not only allows us to analyze the latest trends, but it gives you a chance to get your voice heard. You will also get access to the analysis in April.

FOSS4G NA TAKES SHAPE FOR MAY!

FOSS4G NA 2018 is OSGeo's annual geospatial conference and is hosted and organized by LocationTech. It will be held May 14-16 in St. Louis, MO by the LocationTech working group.

Thank you to the existing LocationTech members who have agreed to serve as sponsors of the event, including four at the platinum level. Sponsorship opportunities still exist for members who wish to reach the North American geospatial community.

The call for proposals closes this Thursday, February 8 - so a reminder to submit your talk by then!

WAYNE BEATON DECODES IP POLICY: THIRD PARTY DEPENDENCIES

The Eclipse Foundation has a well-defined IP Policy, corresponding IP Due Diligence Process, and a dedicated team of professional IP specialists who perform the heavy lifting in the due diligence process. Committers, the software developers who decide what will become Project Code and how an Eclipse open source project will leverage Third Party Content, are responsible for bringing IP issues to the attention of the Eclipse IP Team.

Read Wayne’s blog to learn how the Eclipse IP Due Diligence Process handles third-party content.
