Eclipse Meeting Minutes

January 30th, 2007


Foundation Updates

EclipseCon: www.eclipsecon.org

·        Will
be held March 5th to 8th in Santa Clara, CA
·        Ian
is encouraging exhibitors to register staff , since hotel space is limited
·        Meeting
Strategies has emailed the exhibit hall layout and rules and regulations
form. Current sponsors must get booth selections into Mary Peters: Mary@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
·        The
foundation is currently emphasizing driving attendance to the event and
gaining momentum
·        There
will be a Member’s Meeting at EclipseCon, on Monday, March 5th in the
afternoon.
·        From
a press perspective, there are ~30 press and analysts registered
·        Ian
is open to doing a community release again this year. Send Ian an email
if you are doing a press announcement. It’s easier for all the press to
get an overview via the community release.
·        There
are plans to do a marketing committee meeting, with a time to be determined
in the near future


Eclipse Awards Submission
·        The
awards are a way to show our appreciation to individuals and technologies
that make Eclipse a stronger community.  
·        Individual
award nominations are sill open
·        60+
nominations have been received, with a list of nominations found at: http://www.eclipse.org/org/foundation/eclipseawards/index.php
·        The
awards will be announced March 5, 2007 at EclipseCon.


Guest Speaker Program
·        To
render the marketing calls more valuable, the marketing committee has decided
to implement a guest speaker program. Next week, Donald will speak about
ways companies can extract value for exhibiting at EclipseCon. Karen Frederiksen
is working on lining up some speakers. If you have suggestions, please

Eclipse Plug-in Fest Successful
·        Symbian
hosted a plugin-fest open to the public that allowed vendors in the embedded
/ mobile  / device software space to come together and test the integration
of their commercial projects. The goal was to encourage interoperability
between various plug-ins
·        Held
January 23rd and 24th in London
·        19
companies in the mobile and embedded space attended, including Nokia, Wind
River, and Erikssen 
·        Action
Item: Ian would like to see if anyone is interesting in doing a similar
event for the enterprise java space post EclipseCon. Please contact Ian
if interested.
