I agree with Bernd, the PC should focus on building a great program
that will attract attendees.
IMHO, mobile development is one of the hottest trends in computing
today. Eclipse is well positioned as the tools platform for many of
the mobile platforms. There is also a lot of interesting
innovation going on in the mobile space using Eclipse. Not having
some mobile content in the program would be a significant hole in
the program.
Just my 1 cents (since I am not on the PC :-))

Well, while I agree with the general statement that
the talks should do something with Eclipse or for Eclipse, I think
that we should not try to derive the acceptance of talks from
sponsors.
Many people go to conferences because they learn something
new there. Sponsors go to conferences because they want to sell
something or because they want to hire people or because they
want to do the conference a favor.
As the PC I think we should make sure that we have a great
program for a conference where we would want to go to. People
will look at the program, not at the list of sponsors.
So on the concrete topic: I wouldn't care if we end up having a
talk on Android or something else in the program, as long as
there is a (strong) connection to Eclipse. As an example:
"Building apps for Android" would not be enough. "Using the ADT
to build Android Apps" might be.
FWIW, I would look at
the sponsor profiles as a bit of guidance.
There's a number of Enterprise software companies, so I'd
definitely recommend a strong enterprise focus. There's
strong modeling and design sponsors again, so definitely
recommend a strong focus there. A number of
tools/technology vendors (small and large), so some focus
there as well.
I don't really see any mobility interest showing up yet,
so I believe you are asking a very good question if there
will be a strong attendee profile for it beyond a passing
interest.

Hi Achim et al.,
I had the exact

I would accept a talk highlighting how the

there are quite a few proposals in the

that these are important and interesting
topics but I'm not sure if EclipseCon is the
right forum for these talks. Examples
