Re: [eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Mobile Device Programming proposals

FWIW, I would look at the sponsor profiles as a bit of guidance.

There's a number of Enterprise software companies, so I'd definitely recommend a strong enterprise focus.  There's strong modeling and design sponsors again, so definitely recommend a strong focus there.  A number of tools/technology vendors (small and large), so some focus there as well.

I don't really see any mobility interest showing up yet, so I believe you are asking a very good question if there will be a strong attendee profile for it beyond a passing interest.

Hi Achim et al.,

I had the exact same feeling while looking at these proposals… I would accept a talk highlighting how the Android/BB/whatever Eclipse-based SDK can be used in conjunction with other pieces of Eclipse technology to build a rich solution, but, just like you, I don't see much interest in focusing on "Android/BB/whatever development tips and tricks" …

Hi all,

there are quite a few proposals in the domain of "Mobile device Programming", especially Android-SW-Development. I can see that these are important and interesting topics but I'm not sure if EclipseCon is the right forum for these talks. Examples include

Location Based Services - Tips & Tricks and a least 3 more proposal from ekke

and a few not so obvious talks which I remember but can't find in a hurry.

It's my opinion that it is not enough to have an Eclipse based toolchain to validate talks which are centered at Android/Blackberry/iOS development.

What's your opinion?

Achim
