[eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Keynote idea: Amazon inside

Hi all,

here is one more idea for a keynote:

Cavit Yilmaz, General Manager at Amazon
As a GM, he is leading the fulfillment center in Leipzig with a couple of thousands of employees. We all know Amazon "as a website" and as a company offering some cool IT services. He could give us insights on how the company is working "behind the scenes" - only few are aware that there is a lot of stuff going on and that those are the things that actually make Amazon be the world best online store. So funny enough, they win the game in the offline world...
Cavit is none of the IT guys, but a really good manager who can step back an reflect what's going on there - it would be more of the "change perspective" kind of keynotes. For us there is a lot to learn about what it actually takes to run an innovative, agile and rapidly growing company. What makes them successful and how they actually live "agile", "lean", "kaizen",... - some aspects we can learn from in the software industry.

There also is a downside of this proposal: I actually have no clue if he would do a keynote - especially as ECE is in november. Q4 is hell in retail, so chances might not be high. Still, I would approach him with that idea if you are interested.

Cheers,
Simon
