[eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Re: EclipseCon 2010 Conference Call 14oct09

Notes from this call. Please let me know of any
dissonances with your own experience.

On: Wayne/Dave/Doug G/David/Donald/Oisin
Regrets: Ed

* Regarding Panels
Items:
-------
Wayne: uncomfortable about the apparent plethora
of panels and them eating into time that could be
taken for talks.

Doug: panels only useful if interesting, controversial,
a 'name' on the panel

Resolution
---------------
None as yet - separate discussion thread to happen.

* Regarding Conference Sructure

Item
------
Don: concerned regarding the structure, specifically
not purposing Monday wholly to tutorials, as per
the traditional approach.

Resolution
---------------
None as yet - separate discussion thread to happen.

* Regarding Eclipse Foundation related panel

Item
------
There was concern expressed about dealing with
"Foundation" business on a panel - whether this
is appropriate, since the Foundation has a board
of governance etc.

Resolution
---------------
Panel to be re-purposed to "Eclipse Development
Processes".

* Regarding other panel-related issues -

David Carver volunteers to help recruit, joining Bjorn
for Software Craftsmanship panel.

Ketan, David to run with Testing-related panel

Chris to run with Runtime-related panel (need one more)

Bernd/Ed to run with Modeling-related panel

Doug G hints that Mobile panel will be zero fun, since
potential participants are so different strategy-wise that
they have little common ground to haggle over. Doug
will have a think about it.

The final all-project-leads Panel will take place at
the end of the conference as per usual.

All Panel construction teams should indicate their
requirement for a moderator to this list as necessary.

Panel construction individuals can participate on the
panel they are constructing, provided it makes sense
to do so.

Thanks for a good call, everyone.
