At OOPSLA we had DesignFest [1] (Remember Bjorn?). At DesignFest people

we could do such an event during tutorial time we could create designs
people could work on in their spare time during the remainder of the
week. DesignFest had general problems but in this case we could focus
on problems that could be implemented with a few bundles. Of course the
problems would have to be small enough. Would be really interesting to
do this with some experienced people that know some parts of Eclipse in
and out. And notice the fight between extension points and services.
Could be highly educational!

In my opinion, the original objective of getting people together to
hack on
things didn't work out well. This was mostly, in my opinion, a lack of
organization on our part. Last year, we simply just said there was
going to
be a code camp and expected people to show up. This year, we should aim
to
utilize the space more by:
- having some type of schedule or even a track as suggested on the
call
that is staffed by people from certain projects
- allow people giving talks to elect to use the room as a place to
further discussions after a talk is completed (this should be made well
known to presenters)
Other than that, don't remove the limitless supply of coffee :P
