RE: [eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] A bit about the CodeCamps from last year

Another issue with the code camp was the location. It was about as far away from the main conference as you could get. We were going to have a flexible resources get together there but ended up squating in the Theatre instead so we wouldn't be late for the next sessions.

It might help attract more gatherings if it was better located, IMHO.

Cheers,
Doug S (and regrets for missing the call, I'm still not sure what time it was supposed to be at).

Sorry I joined the call late, but I joined around the time we were talking about expanding the code camps.

The code camps were great last year if you needed a place with power, coffee and peace :)

In my opinion, the original objective of getting people together to hack on things didn't work out well. This was mostly, in my opinion, a lack of organization on our part. Last year, we simply just said there was going to be a code camp and expected people to show up. This year, we should aim to utilize the space more by:
     - having some type of schedule or even a track as suggested on the call that is staffed by people from certain projects
     - allow people giving talks to elect to use the room as a place to further discussions after a talk is completed (this should be made well known to presenters)

Other than that, don't remove the limitless supply of coffee :P

Thoughts?
