RE: [eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Welcome to theProgram Committee

Understood Mik.  You’re one of two track leads from whom I did not get a response because of vacation.

I will work with you offline to discuss the time commitment.

Hi Doug,

I have just returned from vacation and noticed the Program Committee invitation.  While I am honored to receive this invitation and would very much enjoy being part of the EclipseCon PC, please note that this is not something I have committed to yet and as such should not currently be listed as the lead for Tools.  Participating in the PC would likely mean removing one of my existing Eclipse commitments and I’m not sure that’s a good idea at this point.  I’ll follow up with you to discuss further (get more info on the time commitment, figure out whether playing a supportive role would make sense, or suggest alternate candidates).

Best regards,

Mik

Subject: [eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Welcome to the Program Committee

Hello EclipseCon 08 Program Committee!

Thank you for volunteering your time, energy, and expertise to EclipseCon.  The program committee is the driving force behind a well-attended and well-liked conference.

First, I’d like to have a quick meeting to introduce everyone and talk about how the program committee will run this year.  All I need from you is a time to meet.  As this is the single most difficult task we’ll encounter together, let me throw out a few options for voting:

Wed, 15 August, 0900 PDT / 1200 EDT

Thurs, 16 August, 1000 PDT / 1300 EDT

Fri, 17 August, 0800 PDT / 1100 EDT

Second, as you know we have recruited a single lead position for each track who is responsible for the success of their track.   I’d like to offer you the opportunity to add other supporting people to your track to help you recruit, review, and accept talks.  I have some suggestions below, but you as the track lead are free to decide who you want to ask.  Please forward names/emails of folks you’d like added to this mailing list before our first meeting.  Currently only the track leads are on the list.  (Please note that the complementary registration applies only to the track leads.)

Thanks,

Doug Gaff
