That’s actually my proposal –
by “requires a full Thursday” I meant “requires Thursday to
be as long as the other two days”, not “let’s make Thursday a
short talk day”.
I like the idea of making the final “talk”
hour of each day the short talk hour…it seems like a fun and lighterweight
way to end the day, and has the advantage of not creating conflicts between
short and long talks unnecessarily.

Another option for the short talks is to have one room
be short talks for all three days: that is 15 slots (5 per day, 3 days). Rather
than having all the short talks one day and giving that day sort of a
"second tier status". Comments?
