[eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Long talk breakdown by projects and the two thematic virtual tracks (embedded and RCP)

From the discussion on the “Developer Track Subcommittee” telecon Monday evening. Partitioning the talks should help us hone in on finalizing the long talk portion of the program. Note that not all of these selections are finalized yet (because in some cases we need project feedback, additional discussion, etc.)

 

This is a combination of project feedback, guesses (to be confirmed this week at the Council meetings), already accepted talks, etc. (i.e., it’s not a vote).

 

Here’s a summary of the RCP and embedded recommendation lists we’ve received:

  • Embedded Short list Recs mentioned below: 31, 214, 174, 284, 287
  • Embedded Short list Recs not mentioned below: 274
  • RCP recs mentioned below: 116, 194, 195, 174
  • RCP recs not mentioned below: 185, 199, 204, 137, 189, 283

 

Math: Assuming the allocations below, 90 short talks, and the “long Thursday” option, (and my ability to add) we have 10 remaining slots to allocate. I believe we need more platform and “other” topic, at least one talk on EMF, and possibly an additional RCP talk from the recommended list above, since some of the ones on the virtual track now are only partly about RCP. Given the difficulty of picking only 10 additional long talks, we might want to consider trading in some short talks as well.

 

Please come to the Friday meeting with two nominations for additional platform talks and two nominations for additional “other” (non-project) talks. Register your interest with the flag system, and we’ll try to make progress on selecting some additional talks in addition to the requests from the projects.
