We would like to share an update regarding the evaluation of Develocity (a product by Gradle) that was made available to Eclipse Foundation projects starting January 2025 at https://develocity-staging.eclipse.org/ (original tracking ticket: https://gitlab.eclipse.org/eclipsefdn/helpdesk/-/issues/5408).
While the initial evaluation period was planned for a limited time, the phase was extended beyond the original schedule in order to give projects sufficient opportunity to experiment with the service, integrate it into their workflows and provide feedback. We appreciate the engagement from the fifteen projects that tested the platform and the valuable feedback provided during this window.
After a thorough review of our service portfolio and current community requirements, we have determined that our strategic focus must remain on our core, high-demand infrastructure services. As such, we have decided not to transition Develocity into a permanent fixture of the CBI service offering at this time.
Our goal is to ensure a smooth transition for the teams currently utilizing the service. Starting at the beginning of Q2 2026, we will work with the projects that are still connected to the service to help them disconnect in a smooth and controlled manner. Our objective is to complete this transition and shut down access by the end of Q2 2026.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Gradle teams for their support throughout this initiative. Their assistance to the participating projects, their technical guidance during the setup of the staging platform, and the expertise they shared were highly valuable. We would especially like to thank Gasper Kojek for his continuous help and engagement during this evaluation period.
We also want to warmly thank all the projects that invested time and effort in testing the platform and sharing feedback on their PR or directly in helpdesk tickets. We truly value the commitment shown by these teams, and their willingness in making the infrastructure ecosystem more robust and sustainable for everyone.
