Greetings,
Now that Indigo has shipped, Matt and I are up to our elbows in
maintenance. Here's what's going on:
Indigo
Congratulations to everyone on the successful release of
Indigo. We moved over 250,000 downloads in the first three days!
From an IT standpoint, the release went off without a hitch.
Thanks to everyone for helping make that happen.
New File Servers
We've acquired a pair of new file servers to replace the aging
hardware that caused outages in June. Migrating to the new
servers is expected to happen next weekend, July 30. During the
migration, all of the Eclipse.org services will be placed in
read-only mode so that I can transfer all the data to the new
servers.
Most of the migration time is spent copying the zillions of files
in the filesystem. Here's how you can help reduce the
down time:
1. Clean your home directory on dev.eclipse.org. As a
reminder: your home directory must not be used as a build
workspace! Everyone with shell access should log in and
clean up; especially the users listed below...
2. Clean your downloads and archives area. There are
millions of files here; if they are not needed, please delete
them.
3. Clean /shared on the build server
4. Project Leads: make sure your committers clean up :)
Bugzilla Upgrade
We've begun work on upgrading our Bugzilla 3.6.3 instance to
Bugzilla 4.0. Stay tuned for an update on this in the near
future.
Thanks for reading. If you have any questions, please drop me a
line at webmaster@xxxxxxxxxxx.
