Greetings,
As you may have noticed, eclipse.org was totally down for a few
hours earlier today. We are slowly bringing things back up, so we
appreciate your patience.
One power supply in a 14-disk tray literally exploded (sparks were
coming out of it) and that tripped the circuit breaker for the
power strip that our switching gear was on.
Coincidentally, one of the two NFS servers (which is on pair of
totally difference power circuits) ceased to respond to network
activity, and is now failing to restart. This server hosted
shared files for CVS, Git, SVN but not downloads. We've therefore
reverting to using our second NFS server for all shared files.
This means that until we restore service to the failed NFS server,
most of eclipse.org will appear to be sluggish/slow and
will be increasingly slow as more concurrent builds occur.
While in this state, we would appreciate using the build and
Hudson servers for essential builds only. I will keep you
informed on any progress we make in restoring our data backend.
Thanks,
Denis
