Re: [eclipse.org-architecture-council] April 10 2025 EAC Meeting Agenda

Our discussion today was very helpful for me. Big thanks to Kai for providing insight.

I've added minutes for today's meeting in the wiki.

Here's my quick summary:

Potential agenda topic: SDV Badges

Wayne did a walk through of our current work regarding Functional Safety Development.

Some key points:

  • This is all still a very early draft.
  • Functional Safety refers to the aspect of safety that ensures a system or equipment operates correctly in response to its inputs, particularly in the presence of faults or failures.
  • Our focus is to create "safe" software.
  • Certification bodies certify that development practices conform to various international standards, but do not guarantee that software is "safe".
  • There are requirements placed on the tools used to build software; e.g., compilers need to be certified.

The work-in-progress Eclipse Foundation Functional Safety Process is here.

Feel free to make updates. I'll likely add some more comments as my brain processes our discussion.

Thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion.

Wayne

Greetings Eclipse Architecture Council

I have only one item on our agenda for tomorrow.

If you have other things that you want to talk about, please feel free to add them directly to the agenda, or add them as a response to this thread.

See you tomorrow!

11 AM ET

Note that I'll be doing a run through of a new Committer Training video on our release process that I'm working on during the Committer Office Hours that start 30 minutes ahead of our meeting. There is a small chance that I may be a few minutes late.
