RE: [eclipse.org-architecture-council] October 11th Conference callagenda (now with the time!)
|
Here goes:
Looking at RCP, Platform, JDT, and PDE, I
see:
-
core
runtime (osgi based)
-
resources
(including virtual file system layer)
-
comparison
framework
-
command
facility
-
help
system
-
build
system
o
Ant
example
-
debug
framework
o
Java
example
-
language
development tools framework (IDE)
o
Java
example
-
team
facility
o
CVS
example
-
workbench
framework (ui components)
-
search
framework
-
update
manager
-
textual
edit framework
-
…
What I don’t see but would like to:
-
metadata
facility (think EMF, but incorporated into platform)
-
more
later… ;)
In the time allotted, I also generated
some samples of the diagrams I mentioned and attached the output for RCP and
PDE (others are similar, just picture bigger and messier with no time to
cleanup before the Bjorn buzzer). I think these could be useful if
adorned with additional information and hyperlinked to drill into more
fine-grained component and class diagrams. Of course, never choosing to
draw one by hand, but reverse-engineer whenever possible.
Best Regards,
Richard

- Architecture contribution to the
Roadmap. We need to have a definition of what each
project will contribute to the architecture section of the Roadmap and
when we plan to have those contributions ready. Bug#103916
has some advice.
- Architecture diagram.
Last year we had a block diagram architecture diagram as part of the
Roadmap. We need at least an updated version of that, and better yet, a
better diagram. What would that diagram look like? And how could we create
it?
- Conflicts. Are
there are any architectural issues that are creating conflicts between the
projects or that the PMCs anticipate will create conflicts? One of the
purposes of the AC is to expose these and at least start the conversation
about how they might be solved.
