Re: [eclipse-pmc] Request to downport bug 482765 - NullPointerException in TextSearchControl.createLabelButtonControl(198)

I have merged the fix for Neon.1.  It will get picked up for the RC4 build or if the PMC decides to respin RC3.  I recommend just waiting for RC4.

Hi Kaloyan

Sorry, you're right, it is a regression. We will have to do another build for RC4 in order to regenerate the Javadoc on the latest code. I'll talk to Tom whether he can merge the fix for RC4.

Hi,

The bug IS a regression introduced in Neon M3 or earlier milestone. The patch was pushed in Gerrit in December last year. It's a pity it did not grab committers attention for Neon.0. Now it skips Neon.1...

Sure, it is not a stop ship for the Platform. It only affect a limited number of adopters.

Is there any process that guarantees that the patch won't be forgotten for Neon.2?

Thanks,
Kaloyan

Hi,

The the fix for bug bug 482765 [1] is simple and safe. It is already merged for Oxygen M2. I'd like to request downporting it for Neon.1.

The NullPointerException affects adopters like us who have the TextSearchControl used in a customer editor. This problem is visible to users when restarting the IDE having this custom editor opened. After the restart, the editor is completely broken.
