Exactly. I want to make progress on the 3.x stream,
but I also want to explore the possibility of making facets be a platform
facility for E4. Since the Faceted Project Framework would start out under
Technology, it will need to find a more permanent home at some point. A
sub-project beneath Eclipse Project or Tools Project are two of the
possibilities.

There is an article on eclipse.org that would be a
good way to learn about the API from the perspective of facet author.

Filling the vacuum
Kosta,
I would expect a Poisson
distribution to produce pretty much the initial positing patterns we see,
with the added assumption that once a message is posted, a cascade of response
messages typically results. Hey, isn't poisson the French word for
fish? I wouldn't read in anything fishy beyond that...
You don't
really see faceted projects as an e4 story since you expect it ought to be
mainstream in the 3.x stream. I suppose for e4 it would make good sense
for this to be an integral part of the platform API, so that's your purpose
for bring the issue up here. I agree natures are quite poorly handled
currently. They're hard or impossible to add or remove. It will be
interesting to see more about the APIs
involved...
Cheers,

So
what happened to all the activity on this list? It went from a regular 20
messages a day down to 1 yesterday and none today. Something is fishy here. It
sounds like everyone got a day off and I didn’t get the memo. In the interest
of filling the empty space and since this was mentioned earlier on this list,
I’d like to draw people’s attention to the declaration of the Faceted Project
Framework project [1]. The newsgroup [2] is live and is starting to get some
traffic. Folks on this mailing list might be particularly interested in [3]
where I answer the “why can’t we just extend natures” question. In any case,
if you have questions about facets, are wondering if you have formed any
misconceptions or already know that you want to get involved, jump on the
newsgroup and fire away.
