Currently each project stores its own icons. So for your project can you store any images you need. If you want to store  svg versions of your icons in  "org.eclipse.sdk.images" that would also be possible. I think "unfinished" icons should not be stored in  "org.eclipse.sdk.images".

Great idea to have a common images repository. This is one step in the right direction. Will there also exist a repository where we can put templates? I think of unfinished things like the overlay part for "new" or the empty file icon. Ev. we could have a "source" version of that "org.eclipse.sdk.images" plugin which contains such templates? Otherwise I would suggest to also create such a repo.

Hi Christian,

in the platform ui repo you find bundles/org.eclipse.ui.images in which I collect a contribution with all platform and JDT icons in svg and png form. We plan to move this plug-in to another repo, register yourself for updated on that in https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=422139
