RE: [dsdp-pmc] EclipseCon 2007 - Long Talks

Hi,

I looked through all the talks, and taking Doug's original suggestion I agree with these:

3755 – Shigeki – “C++ GUI Builder for Mobile or Embedded devices”

3780 – Anthony Berent – “Creating an IP-XACT editor to support the use of IP-XACT for Embedded Debug” – Some connection to DD / TM

3722 - Profiling Mobile and Embedded Java Applications in Eclipse IDE

very interesting combination of eclpse projects including TPTP, a very hot issue

I'm not yet sure about this -- would be very interesting if available in Open Source

3602 – Jeff Ricker – “Service Oriented Device Architecture (SODA)” – Some connection to eRCP

The following looks business related but also interesting

3770 – Robert Day – “Bringing embedded and enterprise development closer using Eclipse”

The following could be a short talk - presenting commercial concepts but no take-away:

3814 – Brett Hackleman – “Remote Management of Mobile Embedded Platforms “

The following should be a short talk or BoF session because it's too early:

3738 – Christian – “Tools for Mobile Linux Project: Extending Eclipse into Linux Mobile Devices”

Martin

 DSDP project talks

3688 – Gorkem/Mark – “eRCP - Ready for prime time!”

- looks like an excellent long talk

3738 – Christian – “Tools for Mobile Linux Project: Extending Eclipse into Linux Mobile Devices”

- short talk or BoF -- presumably not enough hands-on-content by the time of EclipseCon

3755 – Shigeki – “C++ GUI Builder for Mobile or Embedded devices”

- should be a long talk -- mature and good content

3781 – Martin – “Target Management: Embedded to Enterprise”

(not commenting on my own talk)

3795 – Christian – “Eclipse as foundation for J2ME development tools”

- demo since user related

User talks

3602 – Jeff Ricker – “Service Oriented Device Architecture (SODA)” – Some connection to eRCP

- interesting long talk

3814 – Brett Hackleman – “Remote Management of Mobile Embedded Platforms “

- short talk

3780 – Anthony Berent – “Creating an IP-XACT editor to support the use of IP-XACT for Embedded Debug” – Some connection to DD / TM

- Important long talk

3722 - Profiling Mobile and Embedded Java Applications in Eclipse IDE

- looks like an excellent long talk

Potential business track talks

3770 – Robert Day – “Bringing embedded and enterprise development closer using Eclipse”

- interesting long talk

3813 – Dino Brusco – “Enabling Seamless Mobility with Eclipse”

- I'd deny this - not enough flesh.

I am hopeful we can get at least one of the business-related talks into the business track, but I’m waiting to hear from Donald about that.  That leaves 8 talks and 5 slots.  My preference is below.  2 long talks by project leads not covered by Tutorials, 3 user-related talked – with 2 of them loosely tying back to DSDP projects.  I want to find out more about the SODA talk though, as it spans several technical areas.  It might belong in another track.

3738 – Christian – “Tools for Mobile Linux Project: Extending Eclipse into Linux Mobile Devices”

3755 – Shigeki – “C++ GUI Builder for Mobile or Embedded devices”

3602 – Jeff Ricker – “Service Oriented Device Architecture (SODA)” – Some connection to eRCP

3814 – Brett Hackleman – “Remote Management of Mobile Embedded Platforms “

3780 – Anthony Berent – “Creating an IP-XACT editor to support the use of IP-XACT for Embedded Debug” – Some connection to DD / TM

Cheers,
